Sustainable Fashion: Think Product Life Cycle

In this video, we'll take a high-level look at the foundational concept of understanding the stages of a product’s life cycle - from its birth to its death or from cradle to grave - in order to better assess a brand/product’s sustainability story. This lesson is specific to apparel but mimics many products that we interact with every day. Derek Sabori touches on a few key concepts that you should learn more about and add to your sustainability lexicon.

Why this micro-lecture is important? Because unless we’re considering the entire life cycle of a product, we’re not accounting for the product’s entire footprint, and so we’re not getting a full picture.

Topics mentioned: Life cycle, value chain, raw materials, renewable, non-renewable, tier 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, cradle to gate, cradle to grave, end of life, consumer use.

Goal: To help you better understand sustainability.
